Step-by-step manuals for the George app
Setting up the George Business-App for the first time
Step 1
If you are not yet using the George Business app, download it from the app store appropriate for your device. Use the displayed QR code for this.
Step 2
Open the George Business app and start the activation by entering your disposer/user number or your chosen username.
Step 3
Scan the QR code from the PDF or enter the printed activation code manually.
Step 4
Define a 4‑ to 8‑digit PIN, tap "Next", and confirm it on the following screen by entering it again.
Step 5
You can now enable biometrics for login and approvals if you wish. The George ID PIN will still be requested if biometric recognition fails.
Step 6
You have successfully activated George ID on your device. You can now delete the s Identity app.
If you want to use additional devices for approvals with George ID, you will need another activation code, which your administrator can generate and provide to you.
You can activate up to 5 devices for George Business or George ID.
Step 1

Step 2
Please now install the George ID Desktop app on your computer.
- On macOS, do this by moving the downloaded file with the “.app” extension from the Finder (file manager) into the Applications folder. You can then launch George ID from your list of applications. The first time you open it, you must confirm the following prompt by clicking “Open”:
“George ID is an app downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?” - On Windows, the setup process completes all steps automatically and places a George ID icon on your desktop and in the Start Menu.
After installation, open the app. You will be greeted with “Your new George ID is here.” Click “Yes, activate George ID.”
Step 3
Now enter your disposer/user number or your personally chosen username and click “Next.”
Step 4
Enter the activation code from the PDF manually.
Step 5
Define a 4‑ to 8‑digit PIN, click Next, and confirm it on the following screen by entering it again.
Step 6
You have successfully activated George ID for desktop on your device. You can now delete the s Identity Desktop app.

Set up additional devices
You can activate up to 5 devices for George Business or George ID. If you use George Business and George with the same user (Verfüger), you can activate up to 7 devices.
Step 1
Open the George Business app on a device on which you are already using the app. Tap the silhouette icon in the upper right corner to switch from the overview to the profile.
You do not have a device on which the George Business app is already set up? If you cannot generate an activation code yourself, use one of the four available options to obtain a new activation code. Once you have received the activation code, please follow the instructions in “How to set up the George Business app for the first time.”
Step 2
Select "Device Management," or if this option is not yet available in your app version, select "Login & Approval."
Step 3
Now confirm that you want to add a new device.
Step 4
Follow the instructions on your primary device, install George Business on the new device, and launch the app there.
Step 5
Press George Business Login on the new device, enter your user ID (Verfüger), and then the George ID PIN you defined when switching to George ID. You will now see a menu titled “Scan QR Code.”
Step 6
Go back to your already linked primary device and confirm that you want to add a new device by pressing “Continue to activation.” After authentication (PIN or biometrics), an activation QR code will be displayed. Keep this screen open and switch back to the device to which you want to link George (Business). You must not share the QR code on your screen with any third party under any circumstances, even if you are asked to do so.
Step 7
Go to “Scan” on the device you want to pair and point the camera at the QR code on the primary device.
After scanning, the device will be linked with George ID.
Step 8
You can now enable biometrics for login and approvals if you wish.
The George ID PIN will still be requested if biometric recognition fails.
Step 9
If you want to pair the George Business app with additional devices, start the process again at Step 1.
If you no longer want to use one of the apps on a device, switch from the overview to the profile and go to “Device Management.”
There you can remove the pairing in the “Other Devices” section: simply click the trash bin icon and confirm that the device should be unlinked.
Step 1
Please note that our instructions assume that you have already added one access to the George Business app and now want to set up an additional access for another user ID or user. Please make sure that you have already created or obtained an activation code for this additional access.
To link another access with the George app, go to your profile (silhouette icon in the upper right corner).
To see the menu item “Additional user IDs” in the profile, the currently used user ID/user must be using George ID. Accordingly, the app must first be set up with a George ID user ID/user in order for the menu item to appear. This means you may first need to follow the prompt to switch from s Identity to George ID. You can find the appropriate instructions here.
Step 2
Scroll down in your profile and select “Additional user IDs” (this also applies to additional user numbers). Tap on it.
Step 3
Please familiarize yourself with the requirements and limitations, such as the removal of biometric approval.
Step 4
Now enter your user ID / user number or your username.
The following steps refer to the use of George ID. If you are using s Identity or cardTAN, these steps may differ. In that case, follow the instructions shown in the app.
Step 5
Please now enter the activation code for the additional access or scan it using your camera.
Step 6
Please confirm the setup using the George ID PIN of the access you are adding, and not the George ID PIN of the existing access.
Step 7
That's it. The second access has been successfully set up. After clicking “Done,” you will be redirected to the overview.
Step 8
In the future, when you open the app, you will be asked which access you want to log in with. You can also switch between accesses from the profile.
Step 9
Do you want to remove a user ID / user from the app?
If you are using George ID:
First, you must log in to the app with the user ID you want to remove. Then go to the profile and select the section “Device Management,” or in the case of an older app version, “Login and Approval.” In the section “This device,” tap “Reset.” This will remove the currently used user ID from the device.
If you are using cardTAN or s Identity:
The menu item mentioned above is not available for user IDs/users with these approval methods. However, you can still remove user IDs/users with these methods from the app by entering the George ID PIN incorrectly six times on the login screen. Don’t worry: this will only unpair the currently used device; your access on other devices will not be affected.
