The financial health of a company is determined by a variety of factors. Fundamental financial ratios provide significant insight into a company's economic condition and future prospects. Depending on the industry, other measurable indicators can also be highly informative. Erste Bank and Sparkasse use available company data to create a rating of the financial health of client companies. This rating greatly influences important banking decisions. And now, you can use some of these insights to your advantage.
Monitor your financial health with the overview on your company's rating
If you have the necessary user permissions, you can access the Financial Health Zone through the entry portal located in your George Business side menu. From there, George will guide you directly to an overview of your company's current rating, based on the latest data available to the bank.
What is the Erste Bank/Sparkasse Rating in general?
Your rating by Erste Bank and Sparkasse is a credit rating which estimates your company's ability to pay its obligations on time and to avoid significant payment problems. A lower rating grade is preferable and indicates a lower likelihood of payment problems for the company within the next 12 months.
The rating might differ over time if a company's financials or fundamentals change. The bank uses the rating in the credit review process, therefor the rating may influence your terms and conditions.
For the calculation of the credit rating, selected information of your company is compared to other companies within the same industry. The Bank uses a process which includes "hard facts", "soft facts" as well as "adjustments".
Please note that you cannot directly compare rating models from different banks or rating agencies which each other.
The rating levels range from "Critical" (8) to "Best" (1). The graphic in George Business indicates whether your company's financial health is within the green zone or outside of it.
George Business also shows how your rating compares to the industry average.
Hovering over the graphic with your mouse provides more information about the displayed data. For instance, George Business explains what a specific rating indicates about a company's financial health.
Below the graphic, you will find a summary of the key financial ratios that contribute to the overall rating. These ratios are divided into the areas of profitability, liquidity, and leverage. Indicators of healthy, critical, or areas in need of improvement help you better understand the ratings and serve as an "early warning system."
From there, you can access detailed information on each ratio that is assessed and categorised.
How is the industry average calculated?
The industry average is calculated by taking the median of the ratings of selected companies that are considered comparable to your company. This means that 50% of the comparable companies have a rating higher than the median, while the other 50% have a lower rating.
